Samsung managed to pack a grill into their phone? Let's see the iPhone beat that.

I lol'd when I read Mat Smith was the author of this article. Not going to comment on why, let's just say he's not on the Android side of things... redface.gif

Guy that owned this S3 likely overclocked it to hell or LEFT it in his car through a hot day.

Edit: Very likely was using an eBay-grade car charger rolleyes.gif http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?s=5267ad0c497729ac6f9266067f46e825&p=79312161&postcount=15 Or it could be the typical defective battery that any electronic product is capable of having...

I don't even think extremely overclocked desktop CPUs leave black burn marks/signs of explosion like this guy's phone.

article says he left it in a car holster properly hit, upwards of 40-50C in the vehicle depending where he was located. touched my steering wheel today and thought i burnt myself it was so dam hot, most of these devices give a suggested operation tempature between 20-30C.

If it was in a car holder while operating for GPS or something it would have been in direct sunlight. Even my Galaxy S 1 gives me an error message like this after a couple hours of driving if its on the dash. It can happen to any device.

Usually I have to take the battery out and put it in front of the air conditioned vent which cools it down pretty fast. Can be a problem though if I'm driving and don't have a passenger to do it for me.

Several times I've been afraid of my G2x battery exploding! Sucker gets SO hot randomly sometimes, and I'm saying hot as in you can't leave your finger on the screen too long hot. It really freaks me out to the point where I pull the battery and put it to cool in front of a fan or A/C.
