this doesnt seem like any reason to knock the phone....

Thats what i think also maybe his wire had a short and it moved and casued a small surge enugh for a phone to blow a chip inside it.

I would suspect a dodgy charger. My s3 has never been hot, or close to being hot even while playing games. It gets slightly warm which I would expect. Plus the damage was not even near the battery

That's a shorted charging plug, most likely user misuse that ended up desoldering a Vcc leg and shorting the thing out.

lol that clearly looks like a faulty charger or something shorted in the charging area.

And btw, I don't understand people overclocking their phones.
I have a Galaxy Note like it shows in my TT sig.
Dual core Exynos 4210 with max CPU state of 1.4Ghz. I have it running at 800Mhz max instead.
Undervolted it as well, 800Mhz from 1075mV to 950mV and 500/200Mhz states at 925/900mV.
Does everything I want it to do, even plays 1080p mkv's with avg video bitrate of 22Mbps just fine without any lagging.
Hopefully the core/ghz race ends in phones and they (SoC manufacturers) would focus in thread perf instead.

P.S. The next gen dual core Exynos looks damn tasty (the 2Ghz one, can't remember the model right now)

That's probably it, or like someone else pointed out it caught fire where one of the mount's arm was.

The GS3 battery shows no signs of damage at all. It was a rhetorical question. wink.gif

I'm still getting a GS3. biggrin.gif

Are you running a non stock kernel? They can cause the battery to get INSANELY hot on the G2x, I woke up one morning to my phone dead and literally so hot it caused discomfort to touch it, I was sure it was fried, but I pulled the battery and stuck it and the phone in the freezer for a bit and they were fine haha...

I do use a kernel by the well-known Faux, and it hasn't happened in quite a while. His last few updates might have taken care of it thumb.gif
