I'll be your first subber!

Comments on parts. Main guts and storage look first rate. In cooling, I love those NexXxos radiators. If you haven't heard a GT in person, listen to one before you buy them all. They are quieter than most other fans, but I didn't like the "kind" of noise they make at all. Apparently it doesn't bother most though, because they are incredibly popular.

Good luck!

Thanks! i havent listened to a GT yet, but im guessing it makes a whining noise? what should i go with if i dont like the "kind" also? noiseblockers seem nice?

edit: makes more of a wind noise, which isnt bothering for me.

edit: makes more of a wind noise, which isnt bothering for me.

I went with Noiseblocker M12-S2's after auditioning a whole bunch of fans. The other finalists were the GT AP-14's (the 1,450 rpm version), the SilenX effizio, and the Nexus Real Silent series.

For me, I can hear 3 distinct sounds from the GT's. First, the wind noise. All fans have it. For the GT, the wind noise is softer than any other fan I tested at comparable rpm's. I think that's why it tests so low on dba's in the reviews. Secondly...there is also the motor sound, which is kind of a mechanical hum, and is higher pitched than most other fans. I don't like it. There is also a very faint kind of "scraping" sound, which you really can't hear unless you are inline with the fan and within about 5 feet of it. Its the part that bothers me the most. I think its probably the ball bearings. But you really do have to be ear level with the fan to hear it. If you are a foot above or below the fan, I can't hear it. So placement of your computer vs where you sit may come into play also.

But I'm not knocking the GT's at all. When you hold one, it is clearly better made than most other fans. Feels like quality. But for me...I just didn't like the way they sounded. I'm sure others will chip in their experiences.

tbh, i didnt see THAT much difference, so i probably will be "cheaping" out on the fans ($4 more for NB's) the ones at perf. pcs come pre sleeved but if they are bad, might go with MDPC. which in that case, i will order one NB and all the GT's, compare them myself, and sell the one/6 which is/are worse.

I don't see a MOBO? I am going to assume you're going with a Rampage IV Extreme though?
