newbie question

Thread Starter
i am looking into water cooling, and because i barely do anything computer relater with out "googling" (sp*) it to death. i have a few questions.

i have an antec p180 case that has 3-120mm fans. can i use the fans in my case to cool three rads that i will buy if this makes sense? also, if i water cool my comp, in what order should i run my loop? i was thinking, pump, first rad, cpu, second rad, gpu, third rad, than northbridge, than back to pump..

hopefully all that babble makes sense to someone.

You dont need to use 3 rads, it would just be a lot of restriction that you dont need..Just get a rad-box and hang a double rad off the back..
Here is a good inexpensive WC rig that Snerp put togather and below that a list of good parts.........Snerps cheap watercooling

1-Pump.......Danger Den :: Pumps :: DC Powered :: 12V DD-D5 Pump

2-Cpu Water Blocks..Apogee is good.....Petra's Tech Shop Swifty Apogee
If you want one of the best these are fstfrddy's here on our forum... Stinger Waterblocks

3-Rad this is the one I use..................... Danger Den :: Radiators :: Black Ice Series :: Xtreme Style Radiators :: Black Ice XtremeII Radiator
They are coming out with these might be worth waiting on.... :::: Hardware Labs - Gen Two ::::

4-Res This is the one I use.........................Danger Den :: Reservoirs :: Bay Style Reservoirs :: Danger Den Single 5 1/4" Bay Reservoir

5-Tubing this is good..Use with 1/2 fittings, you dont lose much flow and it's a lot easier to work with............................Danger Den :: Tubing :: Tubing and Clamps :: 7/16" ID (5/8" OD) Masterkleer General Purpose Clear PVC Tubing.

6- Swifty rad-box for hanging your rad on back of case.....
Swiftech MCB-120 Black 120mm Radbox Kit
You want your loop to go res-pump-rad-cpu and other Wb's-res...

I'm in his dilemma myself. I want WC but I think I might have misapplied my AS5 on my CNPS9500 wrong(I work the least with the CPU and little experience with mounting HSFs doesn't help either) I'm a heavy OCer though. Should I go pletier/TEC or a Nautilus 500? I really want max overclock out of my system. If I do go Pletier though, can I buy a seperate WC unit for my GPU?

You need to learn to WC well before you jump into peltier/ Tec...Dont buy a Nautilus....I made that mistake my-self...And even though I modded it out to a high performence rig it ended up being a waste of money in the end, because I couldn't get 1/2 inch fittings and 7/16 tubing to fit inside of it..Look over the listed parts above and go from there...EDIT..Look about half way down the page on this link..I left some pic's and a description of what I did to a Nautilus...A complete waste of $$$$, I'm going to use it for a hard drive cooler or something.........Are Thermochill rad's worth their price - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net

Is there any decent inexpensive WC system out there? I'd love to build my own but the price is just a little too high for me.

thanx for the reply ira-k.
i have the basics down pat on wc kits, i was just wandering if there is a certain order that the devices go into the wc loop?
my thinking with the rads, is that if i have the fans inside already, why not use them?

Your Welcome...res-pump-rad-cpu block-any other water blocks-back to res....

It's just using 3 120mm rads equal a lot more unnessary restriction in your loop.....It would work, but not as well as it could....A double or triple single rad wouldn't have nearly as much restriction as 3-120's....

If that's what you want to do though go for it, it's really your choice.....EDIT: I like to have the rad outside of the box to less heat in the case....

Your Welcome...That could be a nice way of doing it.Just be careful of condensation if the water is below the ambient temps, it will make your stuff sweat.....Hey let us know how it turn's out...You've got me interested now!!!!
