Can't even get past POST trying to OC a Q6600 - Page 2

as i said before, i would try that CPU on a different motherboard before buying a new CPU. The CPU is the most resilient part of any PC. the only way a q6600 G0 processor would be that bad is if any previous owner ran it with far too much voltage and effectively "killed" it.
I think if that were the case you would be having issues with it requiring alot more voltage at stock than what it is suppose to have.

tl;dr, try a new motherboard first.

There's no way the problem is the CPU.

It runs fine at stock settings?

Something has got to be off in your BIOS settings. Screenshots of your BIOS settings would help.

I understand, but changing a motherboard is a much bigger project... If I'm changing motherboards, I might as well change the case, socket, cpu, ram and everything, I'm just trying to get the most of what I've got at the moment. But I've got a Q9450 available which I'm thinking would be a small but good upgrade for almost no cash. Maybe that one will let me overclock a little too...

you dont have any way to go test your processor in someone else's board? the q9450 might be faster off the bat, but if your board is the issue youre not going to be OCing it either....

Sadly, I don't think I do. Not many people with a LGA775-board these days tbh wink.gif Any ideas on why a board is unclockable tho?
