EDIT: spelling mistake

I have seen this thread. The reason I made this one is because the logic in that one was a little off. Just because monitoring software reports you are using 3000mb of vram doesn't mean you actually need it. Games can allocate more vram than they actually use. With this thread, i was more concerned about if anybody has actually experienced framerate drops or stuttering from not enough vram.

1920X1080 4XAA 16XAF All in game options maxed out +ini tweaks and High res mods constantly max out my 2GB GTX 680.

My old 1.5gb GTX 580 would crash under these same settings within minutes because it simply didnt have enough vram. My friend with a 3GB GTX 580 runs skyrim with pretty much the same mods that I have at the same resolution and constantly reports 2200mb's of vram usage.

Good to know. Please allow me to give you your first rep for your input biggrin.gif. I already bought a 2gb version tho (only evga superclocked has 4gb, and its oos at newegg and costs more than i want to pay with no custom cooler). Plus I got the msi oc'ed power edition one that is supposedly going to have unlocked voltages soon.

Im currently using a 570 with 1.25gb of vram on skyrim. Like 40+ mods(high textures and stuff included) on 1080p. No obvious memory related issues to speak of, but Im guessing im riding the limit pretty close.

This i making me happy I started this thread. Interesting to see how much vram this game actually needs when you apply more and more mods to it.
