The TIM came off easily with 91% rubbing alcohol from CVS . There was so much TIM it was off the sides of the GPU.

Hi CheapTrick,

I encountered some problems while installing the backplate and waterblock and would like to seek your advice.




As suggested i am using the 4-40 x 3/8 screw on the middle 4 holes, but the screw seems to be too long even after i screw on the nut with washer. Even if i trim the screw by 0.1cm, it will still be too long. Whereas the 4-40 x 1/4 fits nicely with the nut on. Anything i can do with the 3/8 screws to ensure that they fit?? Thanks.



As seen from the above image, the 1/4 screws fit nicely at the other 4 suggested holes.

Hey guys, I know this thread is old and there is a lot of information in it, I went through and either over looked or didn't see the answer to a question I have. I just purchased an EVGA GTX670 FTW 4Gb card and was wondering what block I should use for this card if there is one that will fit properly. Scared to order one just to find out that it wont fit with the 4Gb setup. Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
What else can I cram in there?

Yah, I have a buddy who bought the Gigabyte triple slot 4gb card, and NOW he wants to put it under water. There is no block for this card. It looks to be very close to reference, but its connectors are side by side. He is going to try sending his gear infos to Koolance to see what kind of a response he may get. But there's no substitute for doing your research before buying - hard lesson learned, hopefully.

Go online to Brafasco Fasteners, they have a branch in Vancouver. They have socket head screws in 1/4 inch and 1/2, but they have socket cap screws also known as button head in 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 long and even look nicer IMO. You will have to buy boxes of 100, but it is very reasonable price at that quantity. Pm if you want the product #. thumb.gif

BEWARE: Using the pink circled holes in picture earlier that going interplaced with stock screws according to CheapTrick can damage your waterblock just fyi

*These are the ones that attach backplate to card without going through the waterblock; They are not needed to securely attach the waterblock.*

It's been awhile since I last checked on this thread. Anyway, I started a tutorial thread way back on the EVGA backplate mod I did. If you follow the tutorial instruction then you should be OK with your mod....
