i7 2600K 4.8ghz on water

Thread Starter
I only managed to get 4.8ghz on water for the 2600k which is quite low for a water-cooled CPU.
I can get to 5.0 but with very high voltage.

Any help or tips?

WC SETUP
RX240 kit
+E240 rad
cooling cpu and 7970

MOBO
P8Z77 V-PRO

PSU
CORSAIR HX850W

both are raystorm CPU block & universal GPU block.

Or anything I should upgrade ?

Unfortunately it is the luck of the draw with these chips. I had a 2600K that needed 1.51V for 5.0ghz stable. My 2700K now needs 1.4V.

You may just need to run a high voltage. Just make sure temps are under 75C under load.

LOL? Isn't the IB infamous of their temperature when overclocking?

IB is designed to run hotter does not hurt a thing.

Water cooling will typically not allow a higher overclock, it'll just keep it cooler than air so that you can push more voltage into it and get your chip farther... if your chip is up to it.

Unless you are benchmarking or folding, 5.0 vs 4.8 isnt going to do anything for performance. I wouldn't worry too much about it. As long as your temps on the CPU and GPU are good, enjoy your rig!

Exact reason I'm looking for a 2700k. My 2600k is the same when it comes to 5Ghz/1.5v, yet it will post at 5.0 at only 1.4v? Crazy.
