And in my previous posts I've already linked to a review that was done at 1080p showing the performance gap between the AMD FX and Intel with a single gpu.

$30 extra now for the extra performance that will be needed in the future, if not now depending on the games you play.

The price/performance is in intels court right now. That is a FACT, not fanboy bias. I only recommend for people to buy the best price/performance in their price range and the 2500k has that title at the moment.

In games that do not take advantage of multiple cores. take BF3 for example. it uses more cores and the cheaper 8120 beats the 2500k. I dont understand your statments at all. talking about games in the future needing more cores so the 2500k will outlast the 8120? what the heck are you talking about!

and newegg has the price as $220 for the 2500k. as does amazon, and tigerdirect

Edited for language, sorry didnt realize i posted that lol

2500k
$199.99 and free shipping.

And I never said anything about cores. Games aren't about who has more cores, performance per core is what matters. And if you play games like SC2, Skyrim, and Civilization the difference is pretty big. Why would you want to limit potential future gpu upgrades as well just to save $30 now?

Read that tomshardware article I posted as well.

Ignorance is bliss I suppose if you don't want to look at it.

I just don't get why people feel the obligation not to recommend the best option for the price point......like I said if the OP already had an AMD motherboard then the FX could be a possibility but having to buy a new mobo anyway just makes no sense looking at the benchmarks.

I too would recommend the i5 2500k/3570k. I was getting a big CPU bottleneck with my old q9400 and just a gtx260, and a 560ti is about twice as good as a gtx260 if not bottlenecked. (I've owned both)

It's $200 at us.ncix.com & $170 at MC Yes I'm aware 95% of OCN if not more do not live close to a MC, just saying.

Also, Im curious, If more cores = better (for programming), why did you get a 3930k...... the BD has more cores!

This thread is going nowhere, and it's always the people accusing others of being fanboys, that actually are the fanboy trolls. (not directed at you Papas) I'd go back a page and listen to Pioneerisloud, the most level headed accurate post of the thread.

Read that tomshardware article I posted as well.
Ignorance is bliss I suppose if you don't want to look at it.

I have looked at reviews. lots of them. been following BD since before it was released. Liek i have said. reviews dont mean much compared to real preformance. which most of you bashing BD dont have. I do. I have build 5+ BD systems, owned 1, am in the process of building another along with a 3930K system. There are reviews of the 2500k/8120 with some of them being really close in sc2/skyrim and others with the 2500k wooping on the 8120. civ, ill give you. for some reason that game HATES bd cpu's LOL. to me, and again, i have experience with both these systems there is not that big of a difference.

And please dont bring into the whole MC deals into this. MC is only good for like 1% of the population of overclock.net. if you can bring that in, than the 2500k is $170 overpriced cause i got my 8120 for free. thumb.gif

there it went. then a $170 2500k is $170 more than people got a fx-8120 for(not just me, atleast 10+ people got them free too)

I got my FX-8120 for free my AMD Retail Access. I got my 3930K for $170 from Intel Retail Edge. thats why i got those.

TO be honest, if i hadnt got the 8120 for free, i prob would have never owned a BD chip. but it opened my eyes and showed me how great BD can be.
