Webcam broken?

Thread Starter
I just received a new webcam from newegg GEAR HEAD WC1400YLW. I tried using the cd software it included, as well as downloading it from the gearhead site, I also tried manycam. Nothing. I found out it wouldnt work due to error 34. Do you think it's busted? Or just a software issue.

This happened to one of my old webcams. Go to Device Manager and uninstall all of your USB drivers, restart the computer and Windows will reinstall them automatically from Windows update. Then try installing the webcam drivers again, or just plug it in without the drivers and see if Windows update can find a driver online. If neither of those steps work then it the webcam itself is likely broken.

youre never going to buy from newegg again just because you bought an off brand product that happens to not want to work for you? Im sorry but as far as webcams go, Logitech is all you ever need, and im sure youll find plenty more people that have bought hundreds of things off newegg without issue (like me)

This. I've never in my life heard of Gear Head, looks pretty sketchy. Aside from one webcam that died after years of use, I've never had any Logitech peripheral die or come to me defective. Multiple webcams, keyboards, mice and microphones.

Newegg has no control over the quality of the manufacturing of any products they sell. They're just a retailer.

Though they do have control over what they sell. they could avoid this by not selling cheap off-brands......
