GB GA-Z77 D3H - no bios control

Hi,

I just got this mobo but when I press del or end or any key to go to bios options it just hangs in the option, the mouse doesn't move and no key presses. But it does allow me to press 1 key to get into the bios, initially.

Its bios version f8 i think

Keyboard is connected via ps/2 and mouse is connected via usb.

Anybody know what the problem is? I havent got into the bios yet, ever!

(They keyb and mouse work fine in windows)
Cheers.

check your memory. it sounds like something is wrong, but not with your KB/Mouse. PS/2 is a failsafe, if you can't get something through PS/2 then that is not good. Your memory could be making the system freeze or perhaps, do you have the cooler properly installed? I have had odd things happen when my CPu overheats.

On bootup, please hold ALT and press F11 over and over and then you can flash your backup to main. or perhaps hit F10. but make sure you get to flash your backup to the main, not the main to the backup.

Do you have any other devices installed other than your keyboard and mouse?

I didnt know about the ALT/F11/F10, thx. I don't even think it was in the mannual!

The cpu fan is truly wonderful, so I don't think it's that. (as low as 19deg at idle (stock), and 28deg mobo) How accurate is the ET6 software? (allthough i do have 5 case fans)

But It seems the problem is related to either 1 or both usb devices I had connected to the Zalman case usb 2 connectors. When I take them out I can get into the bios. Weird, I guess I might have wired usb 3 to usb 2 and vice versa, but I don't think so.

So I can use the bios which is at F8, but when I try to q-flash I can select the 3 options with the arrow keys or mouse (load/save/exit) but it won't accept [enter], except for the 'exit' option, which I can select. So I can't update the bios.

I've not tried that @bios thing yet tho.

Oh, you need to put the downloaded bios on a fat32 partition.

All's well.

Cheers.
