I have no idea what could of caused this, it should of fixed after uninstalling mr grimms theme/icon pack as it restored to the default icons

I have also tried to change the default program that opens the avi file to vlc and it doesn't change the icon, it stays a 321 icon

Just rebooted from doing a sfc /scannow with no luck,previews are still missing

now I have to re theme windows all over again

I have switched the security settings on my movies folder and still nothing, I recall installing the take ownership via .reg awhile ago and it was a pain to uninstall. If a sfc /scannow didn't fix it, I dunno what will........

I never figured out what caused this issue to happen, I did however finally find a fix for it. Using the "codec tweak tool" bundled with x86 and x64 versions of k-lite codec pack, I clicked on thumbnails under miscellaneous and to my amazement, everything was ticked but .avi for some reason. I clicked default settings ans sure enough it wasn't selected. After selecting it, everything is fine now
