Ok so this sounds like the easiest way, and I think I heard of it before. So would I buy the program, then use the one you reccomended to put it on a USB, then when I build my new computer use the USB and boot from the USB?

My recommendation doesn't even have to be a backup option. If the download is a .ISO file, then it could be as simple as this:

  1. Insert a blank DVD-R into a Windows 7 machine (if it has a DVD burner, of course)
  2. Double-click the downloaded .ISO
  3. Windows 7 opens up a simple ISO image burning dialog box
  4. Tell it to start burning the ISO image
  5. When it finishes, you will be able to use this DVD for your new system

So, it's really just one of the easy options.

To be totally honest, I'm more worried about it being legit. Although, it's roughly the same price as www.culgame.com (which is the site that .:hybrid:. recommended in post #4), and they're saying that it's just a Product Key and no download.

So, perhaps it would be best to find out how to get an .ISO from Microsoft (I think that they offer free downloads that do not come with product keys).

At this point, I recommend saving up for a full retail copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. Microsoft finally got it right with these editions: for most people, Windows 7 Home Premium has everything (unlike Vista Home Premium).
