The problem is the MS is not really looking at both these devices as what they really are Toys. I have has 4 Tabs so far (iPad 2, new iPad, Transformer, HP Touchpad). The first major thing i notices with all is weight. iPad 2 was the borderline and the lightest. I can deal with new iPad but not more. I tried using HP the same way i did the iPad and was very bulky and heavy, Surface PRO is 933g. Thats a lot to get used as a Tab. Basically you will use it as a Laptop 90% of the time. Might as well get a proper Ultra Notebook.

Office 2013 is going to be around $160 for a full license (trial doesn't count seeing as that is full iWorks for the iPad). The accessories for that iPad costs $150. Bringing the new total to $747 for the iPad and $759 for the Surface.

If you're going to compare things like that at least do it properly.

Should throw in there a better performing tablet OS, better CPU, and a GPU that supports much higher quality shaders, shadows, and other eye candies.

Well I think they are different versions. MS has a special version called office 2013 RT for the winRT tablet which comes free with that tablet, just like all windows phone 7 come with a trimmed version of office. I found this could be useful if you want to check the validity of my words. Source

Any way, $599 seems to be a steep price for the consumer market, but I believe some promotions will come along with its release.

Full OS on a tablet would be awesome but these are way overpriced.

I predict failure just as the Zune failed.

Silly Microsoft, tablets are supposed to be cheaper.........
