Dominator vs Vengeance?

Thread Starter
Quick question!

I'm looking to drop a 32GB kit (4x8GB) into a 3570k/Z77 box. I'm looking around Amazon (Prime shipping!) and I see that there are two Corsair kits, both CAS10/1600. One is Dominator and the other is Vengeance. Is there any difference between these two products aside from looks and ~$9? There is also a GSkill set with similar timings/speed/price.

What would you all purchase?

Also to avoid the inevitable "gamers don't even use 8GB!" posts, I do lots of nested VMs and routinely use ramdisks. I can max out 16GB now, hence the move to a 32GB kit.

Appreciate any input you all may be able to offer!

Vengeance are "newer" as model type. But no real difference as such.

I have Vengeance, built this rig about a month ago, no issues with it to date. I ran into the same issue when buying as you, after some deliberation I couldnt really tell the difference and bought the one that qualified for a mail in rebate thumb.gif

I also have Vengeance (because is MUCH cheaper here). It should be a difference in terms of OCing, since the Dominator series is suposed to have better memory chips. I have the CL8 / 1600Mhz , Red Vengeance kit and it's pretty good for the money (around 59$ at the time of purchase). This particular kit goes up to 6.7.6.21 @ 1600Mhz on 1.55v or 8.9.7.25 @ 1980Mhz on 1.55v.

A side note - The dominator have removable fins (as far as i know, those are held in place with 2 screws), so it might be easier to put larger coolers on top of them. smile.gif

I went with the Low Profile Vengeance ram because it was cheap [($54.99 8 GB (2x4 GB)] and I'm glad I did since I was going air cooling and the heat sink fits with no issues. :-)
