Sold my i7, ready to build again. Help me with my AMD build plz.

So, back in Feb of this year I sold my Watercooled i7 build. I've been using an HP laptop. So, I haven't done any gaming in months. I'm ready to get back to it. I want an inexpensive AMD build. I'm done with Intel for a while, decided to go with AMD this time around. I have a general idea of what I want. Just need a few recommendations for a few things. So here is what I have so far.

- AMD FX-8120 Zambezi Eight Core
-ASUS Crosshair V Formula AM3+ AMD 990FX
-Cooler Master HAF X RC 942
- XFX ATI 7970 3GB
-Seagate Barracuda 1TB (Internal)

Just need some help with Power supply, RAM, SSD, and cooling, the best cooling. I do plan to overclock. However, I am not going to be doing water cooling this time around. I am looking to stay around $1500 or so, little higher is fine, Nothing around $2k.

I'd ditch that 8120 for a Thuban
And not get another xfx gpu..They are the "Dell" of GPU makers..yes..they're sturdy..but voltage control is locked out..

I would have to agree. Are you dead set on an FX chip ? If so, I would suggest perhaps a 4170. But, the 960T is imo, the best amd chip currently available.

What do you suggest as far as the GPU? Why not the 8120, I was deciding between that and the 8150.

In the battle of the bulldozers, the 8120 is superior because they're virtually identical and the 8120 is ofc cheaper. Thubans are just a better all around chip in my humble opinion. Not that the 8120 is bad, it just wasn't what we as enthusiasts were hoping for. Are you watercooling or will you be going high end air or closed loop cooler ?

i do agree, an 1100T would be worth the money more than the FX chip.

voltage locked until you use afterburner...i can prove that. friend of mine has thier xfx 7970 OC'd w/ afterburner and voltage unlocked.

anyways why does everyone always push crucial M4s, why not an intel or samsung, be different tongue.gif

id stay away from the corsair closed loops atm, lots of rattling pump issues from what im hearing.

This would be the general direction I would go for a bulldozer build. Sapphire 1ghz 7970, awesome ssd, very nice cooler. The psu I listed is amazing and would support a second 7970 with no issues.

I just want something that I wont feel the need to upgrade in a few months. That's why I considered the 8150 and 8120. Nothing is set in stone.
