Random Restarting while playing games

Hi everyone ! I have been having a serious problem lately with my computer.

Specs below.

Symptoms - Fps games - Counter Strike Source; Battle Field 3; Tribes Ascend, and i play wow, but havent noticed it happening in that game.

Tribes Ascend - computer restarted as soon as I connected to a server. I just logged into Tribes Ascend, hit play now, and as soon as i connected my pc restarted itself.

Counter Strike Source - I can usually play 1 1/2 gun matches before my pc randomly restarts.

Battle Field 3 - Exactly like Counter Strike Source. I can usually make it 30-40 minutes without it rebooting itself.

My pc does this randomly, sometimes i will be just surfing the internet on my other monitor and it happens. I will go on to explain some things that i have checked to put a finger on what the problem is , but alas , its too illusive for this dummy.

My wall outlet only has my tower, and a room fan attached. My monitors, router , etc, are all attached to another surge protector, plugged into a seperate outlet.

I do not believe that my computer is overheating, because i will play wow on my 1st monitor, and stream Netflix; along with Itunes; Windows media player; Winamp, lol I dual monitor whenever I am sitting at my pc. I always have EVGA Precision X running, and my video cards keep a constant 82C while playing mostly all of my games, but i do take the precaution of to turn my gpu fans up to 80%.

Possible Problems -

The tree out front of my house was struck by lightning roughly 2 months ago. My xbox; mobo ethernet port; router; modem, all took damage. I am still using said mobo, connecting to the internet through a usb to ethernet adapter.

My PSU is brand new, my old psu died on me and I rma'd it. The symptoms I am having now I actually had before when my old psu went out, but what are the odds of that?

My mouse and keyboard wires have some of the protective sheathing missing due to having my pc in my living room sometimes, and using a usb extension to sit on my couch and play. My couch has recliners built in, so sometimes when i closed the foot support, the steel framing would scrape the wires.

The power cord from the power supply to the surge protector was accidentally unplugged while the system was running, but I am unsure if the problem was occurring before said accident.

I have also unparked my cpu cores, but once again I am unsure if the problem was occurring before or after said incident.

All your help would be much appreciated. Thanks guys/gals <3 !

If you are getting restarts right when you go into a game, it is a power problem. You aren't getting enough juice when your CPU and video card start getting a load put on them, thus your computer shuts down. I would plug straight into the wall without the surge protector first to make sure that isn't the problem. If it still happens then it could be your PSU or even your board.

It is a possibility that you could just be on Corsair's bad side today and you got another defective power supply, but 750W is more than enough for a GTX460 and i7. It can also be a symptom of motherboard failure. You can try RMAing the board.

Well now my pc restarts before it full loads windows, in a endless reboot cycle.. 2nd corsair psu within a year.....

Im currently running 2x evga gtx 460s sc in sli, is my psu able to handle the load?
I have a corsair tx750. I thought that i had checked to make sure it would deliver enough power, but i guess my system is burning them out because its drawing too much power?
I am really at a loss here, maybe i picked a crappy psu?

Would someone plz check the draw power of my video cards, and the power supplied by m psu? Im actually writing this on my iphone, but i will try and check it right now. I am no expert when it comes to computers, but i really do put a very solid effort into my builds. I always research the best bang for your buck items, yet still try to keep my system in the higher "mid range" area.

I hate corsair psu's now.....

Can motherboard failure burn out your psu ? I mean i guess i can see that happening, but why doesnt it burn out anything else attached to my board. Ya i think corsair hates me, but i hate them right back lol. I actually am writing this on my pc, but this is EXACTLY what happened last time, a fresh psu will fix all of my issues, but im very curious if my current set up is demanding too much power for some strange reason. I built my pc 2 years ago, and have already went through 2 psu's. This stinks lol...

+3.3V@30A, +5V@28A, +12V@60A, -12V@0.8A, +5VSB@3.0A <-- Psu Output Corsair TX 750

My video card manual tells me that each card draws - 24A on 12v Rail with a 450w minimum. Does this mean i need a 900w psu just to run these cards in sli ?

i have 2 cards so 48A is currently being used by just my video cards with 12A to spare. I still need to see if my cpu uses my 12v rail, or my 5v rail.. Dammit , i just moved and i still have everything to unpack. Its sad when my pc is the firs thing that i unpack.

i just read that my i7 950 draws 255 watts at max load, 130 idle. How would i find out exactly how many amps my cpu is pulling ?

It's not the PSU. The amps supplied is ample for your system. Check your CPU temps.

I totally took my rig apart, took the fans off of the cpu cooler, and noticed a lot of dust clogging the fins, once i cleaned it completely I stuck my pc over my floor hvac vent. THANK YOU ! I think it was just a dirty cpu fan because my system is running great now.
