Steam game storage location on SSD

Hey guys, I have an SSD specifically for my gaming, and one for my OS. If I download the Steam client on my gaming SSD would all the games I download from Steam go directly to that same SSD as well? Just trying to make sure. Would be very much appreciated if I can get a straight answer on this. biggrin.gif

Yes they would all install on the same drive you have steam installed on.

Yes, its better to install steam on the secondary drive and use a tool like Steam Mover that uses junctions to put frequently played games on your SSD for performance sake.

Yes, but most don't recommend installing Steam directly to a SSD as it creates "unnecessary read/writes", I personally don't care as I know by the time it would cause any negative impact to the overall health of my SSD I would be replacing it anyways.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. Installing now on my secondary SSD, appreciate it.

EDIT: How would it cause unnecessary read/writes? Isn't it just like having any other game on the SSD?

EDIT2: So I should install it on my mass storage HDD, and junction the games to the SSD instead of having Steam run on the SSD all the time?

Also, how big of a mess would this cause for files and such? I like to keep my PC very clean and tidy.

Would love an answer as quick as someone can get back to me. I stopped the installation on the SSD for now until i'm positive on what to do. I don't want my SSD degrading like crazy because of Steam.

Please, if anyone can shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated. I'm very confused about this.
