First if it is possible.. it will require specific instructions ...
first i found this link for the hardwire... but it used a different chip than mine..
http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showpost.php?p=3901976&postcount=13
this shows the hardwire method and a pinout for the chip he has. But mine is different will it work?
Then I found this link last night.. after reviewing hundreds the last 3 weeks , This link talks about
hardwiring my bios chip that is write protected, has links to the datasheet which google
blocked me from searching so i think i am close. :>
It also has an great idea to use a special tool temp hardwire the chip.

Mind you this is a work in progress I have not tried it yet.. So Dont do it!
Today I did some research based mainly on those two articles and found this.. mounted chip test clip.
its not the cheapest and they wanted 10.00 to ship it? im so used to free shipping on most items from
newegg i almost didnt order it. Almost... haha here is the link so you can see what i am talking about.
I hope its the right one.

A tool for the bios hack! on the way to my house... prob to sit in a drawer for 10 years after this test.
Ok I have been waiting for a email from michelle at swiftech to say that the heatsink for my video card was in.
Last night i checked the site and it looks like they are.. HS-6900 Because im not sure how my water block/pump
will fit or how much rework it would require.. if it works at all, I ended up gettting the waterblock that comes with
this heatsink for about 75.00 for both. A full heatsink NOT full waterblock... and a waterblock that attaches
to center of the heatsink. It has spaces for a 60mm fan. yes i had to pay more shipping.. argh... However
Thanks michelle for helping me get this as it was not in stock. ( im not sure it would have been but thats a guess)
Edit: Swiftech has you look at the board (gpu board) number before ordering .. its at the bottom of the card right above the pcie connector.. I think that if people that did the MOD a year or two ago had included this info it would have been much easier to dupicate the 6950-6970 hack to open up the shaders. either way I should able to overvolt/overclock if i want to.
To recap
I have never belived that the chips are laser cut. I think this is purpose spread misinformation or
guesswork that has turned into a percieved fact. I will find out if i am correct as soon as i get my
other hardware and modify it. Yes and I will admit im wrong if it doesnt work.. arghh... ":>
i found the pinout and specs for mybios on my xfx 2 gig
I found the tool/clip a 8 pin soic tool. and ordered it.
I ordered the heatsink also the water block just in case
I recieved my thermaltake water 2.0 pro 72.99 after rebate. oh yea
Oh yea most importantly.. I only think i can use the tool if i put on my closed loop cooler or waterblock
because the heatsink fan will cover the chip. Doh! Thats why i pulled the trigger and ordered everything.
time to try to hit the pool before rain... later... sunset1
