Your build greatly contradicts your statement..

You clearly did not read the post I was responding to.

He said that it is "sad" for people to have dual 6990s and "don't even have SSDs"
The impact of SSDs for a gaming rig is almost
nothing in comparison to the impact of buying a GPU for gaming. You don't need a SSD if you have a triple monitor rig and want a second 6990 to increase FPS. There is nothing wrong if a gaming rig doesn't have a SSD, no matter what else the rig has. Some people don't feel the need for it, especially in gaming. If I get a 15 second boot time with a hard drive, and then a 8 second boot time with a SSD, or 30 second to load Photoshop as opposed to 15 seconds, or my game loads 1 minute as opposed to 30 seconds is nowhere near important (to me or
most gamers) than having 20-30FPS as opposed to have 60+ while playing a game. Saving power is even less of a concern, and If I keep having to list details about SSDs than you clearly are missing my point about HIS COMMENT.
I never said anything about regretting buying my SSD drives. Do not put words in my mouth and make garbage up.
I don't REGRET buying them, but if I had a choice between a second 6990 or 2 SSD drives, I'd choose the second 6990 in a heartbeat. The choice is blatantly obvious for my personal usage. The impact of the SSD is nothing in comparison to exponentially increasing my framerate in games. I spent more time playing games than anything else.
So for my response to his statement about something wrong with people who have dual video cards instead of having a SSD is completely appropriate.
Read before responding, and don't make garbage up about what is being said.
I mean comments like "why didn't you buy a second 6990 instead of the SSDs" makes no sense. I was responding about how you don't NEED to have a SSD in a gaming rig.
If someone feels the impact of the a second 6990 (or any stupid video card for that matter) is better than something like a quicker boot time, then thats their choice. I happen to agree, but I don't have the money for a second 6990 as I would have to sacrifice more than just a SSD to get a second 6990 as someone already pointed out. I shouldn't have to explain my financial situation to you, or even explain the reason why I have SSDs in my rig when his comment is absolutely ridiculous to start with.

Except boot times are only one of the things SSDs improve; you already have 2 so you wouldn't really need another one or see the improvements as much but anyone on a HDD only rig still with a semi-decent GPU or CPU should really be looking at an SSD by now.
Do I really need to sit here and list every single detail about SSDs that may or may no improve over a HDD? I just wrote one thing, which happens to be the most popular reason, instead of writing out a little of things that some people may or may not care about. Especially about a GAMING RIG which is what the comment was about.
OCN really isn't the same anymore huh. Someone makes a terrible comment that was negative against pretty much a majority of OCN's members, and you're going to sit here and nitpick my post defending people's PRIORITIES? What is it to you if someone prefers to buy a second video card over a SSD?
There is a perfectly legitimate reason for buying a second or even third video card over buying a SSD if a person feels that is what they need more.Edited by OmegaNemesis28 - 6/26/12 at 1:17am
