Hey guys second PC build; first build log.

This build will take a few weeks to build as I am spreading out the purchase of components. I own the essentials of the build already. It will be based around the HAF XM and Maximus V Formula, with a Red and Black theme of course

I own at the moment:

Coolermaster HAF XM
i5 2500K @4.2GHz
EVGA GTX 560Ti
Asus P8P67 PRO
Corsair Dominator CL8 4GB
Corsair H50
Corsair HX750
Samsung Spinpoint 1TB

I am buying over the next few weeks:

Maximus V Formula (Already pre-ordered

)
Intel Core i5 3570K
Asus Direct CUII GTX 670
A SSD of some sort, recommendations would be helpful

I have pre-ordered a Maximus V Formula for the build and recently bought the Coolermaster HAF XM, which I havent seen a lot of to be honest. Was tempted to get the Corsair 650D but this was a better price at the time

I will also be aiming for IMMACULATE cable management. I want this rig as clean and as tidy as possible so may end up cable sleeving too.

Enjoy the log as I build this awesome machine

What is your budget for a SSD? And also, do you plan on installing any games on the SSD or just essential programs?

I would recommend a 128 GB Crucial m4 (especially if you can get it for $110 or $100) or a 128 GB Samsung 830 Series (currently a little less than $130). Intel is also good, but somewhat overpriced.

Yeah, the Plextor M3 is also very good. Price is around $130 for 128 GB. Also, it comes with a 5 year warranty like Intel SSDs. Plus, Plextor has a well-established reputation for reliability.

Yeah I've considered the Crucial M4 and seems like a good bet. Don't forget in in New Zealand so I work in NZD instead of your USD.

Though US prices are significantly cheaper, do you know of any good US online PC retailers that ship worldwide?

You might want to check amazon. They do ship to New Zealand, but for some items. They will definitely ship books, cds, dvds internationally, but only ship a limited selection of computer components internationally.

Here's their international shipping policy:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=596184

It's a good idea to call them and ask specifically if they ship any SSDs to NZ.

Otherwise, you can always try http://www.trademe.co.nz/. Good luck!

Subbed.

This is the build with my current components in it, I decided to chuck everything inside and not worry about cable management as I'll be tearing it out as soon as my MVF arrives anyway.

The top two fans are Prolimatech Red Vortex 140s, I have three of them and Ill be using 2 for the 280mm radiator when I get it and another for an exhaust since this case has support for a 140mm exhaust

Ok so I'm getting bored of waiting around for new parts so I ended up tidying my cables in my case to give you guys an idea of the HAF XM's cable management.

This took about 10 minutes with little effort to tidy and I have to say it looks really clean, imagine what it will look like when I actually put some effort into the cable management! To bad we have to wait till my motherboard arrives

oh and the 8 pin power connector is too short
sadsmiley.gif
. Ive been thinking instead of doing my own cable sleeving I'll buy some of those Bitfenix Alchemy sleeved cables. Since I wont see any of the cables coming out of the PSU thanks the the cable cover that comes with the HAF XM.

Yeah I will look at Amazon, I also found a site called Sidewinder Computers http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/ they ship watercooling components worldwide and I think they have quite good prices, well for me because of the strength of the NZD compared to the USD

Do you know if they are a reliable site to shop at?

And are http://www.excaliberpc.com a good site? I can get parts so much cheaper there than in New Zealand.

If I bought my Asus 670 there I would only pay $614NZD (inc shipping)

It would cost me $779NZD if I bought it from a NZ retailer. and thats the cheapest price I've seen in NZ for that branded card.

I'd like to know if they are reliable too thanks

I have never personally purchased anything from Excaliberpc.
However, they seem to be a reliable merchant according to amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aag/main?ie=UTF8&isAmazonFulfilled=&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&isCBA=&asin=B007R9PWLY&seller=A15EHDQVYNLON8

BTW, are you planning to purchase a reference-based ASUS 670 or one of the ASUS 670s with an aftermarket-cooler (DirectCU cooler)?

Pretty sure I've only seen the Direct CU II ones, I dont think Asus have a reference design for the 670

Oh nevermind. I see that you are getting an ASUS 670 DirectCU non-TOP. My bad.

165 NZD is significant cost-savings so it is probably worth it to purchase from excaliberpc.

Yes haha, not sure whether its worth it getting the TOP ones, I know they select the best gpus but the normal ones would still overclock well. And also stock status will affect the purchase, if its on back order im buying something else, I've been waiting long enough for the MVF to be released

Just saw that there is a great deal on the Corsair Force GT SSD on Newegg.com

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-233-191

Priced at $119.99 USD with a $30 rebate! Wish I had some cash so I could buy a few.

Oops! Just checked and Newegg is not shipping internationally. Sorry.
