300$ budget 2.1 speakers + sound card

Thread Starter
So I'm not that familiar with audio setups and now I decided to update my computer speaker system to annoy my neighbours. I'm looking for a 2.1 system with good bass and won't be upgrading that department in a while. I was looking something like Corsair SP2500. Is that a good speaker system?

Then there's the case of sound card. Would getting one be any good for that budget? I only have some crappy usb creative fatal1ty headphones I got for free but I only play cs 1.6 kreedz climbing and LoL so I don't need my headphones too much.

I live in Finland and here 1$ = 1€. I'm ordering them in 2 weeks now when I get my paycheck. Thanks in advance for all suggestions! I'm really nooby in audio so I don't want to make a stupid purchase.

I would look in the consumers electronics forum, they have sections on home audio and hi-fi gear. Good Luck ! thumb.gif

If you live in Finland, good audio is a must. You guys have all the good music over there!

Seriously, if you're going to spend any amount of money on better audio, get a dedicated sound card while you're at it. Even a $30 Xonar DG is a huge improvement over any onboard, and that's just a basic soundcard.

If I were wanting to annoy the neighbors, I'd look at assembling my own setup based on a 2022 T-amp (much stronger than the 2020-based Lepais that get recommended here), and a good set of passive speakers. Here's an example of a 2022 T-amp, although $48 shipping from China is a little much IMO: http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOPPING-TP60-90W-Class-T-AMP-AMPLIFIER-Tripath-TA2022-/330459490296

If you just want to hook everything up and go, that Corsair setup seems to get pretty good reviews, and I'm sure it will accomplish what you want it to. I just think it's more fun, and you get a little better performance, if you set everything up yourself. Good luck.

that corsair setup looks pretty awsome, you can get it for around 200€ and you can get a pretty good sound card for about 80€

so that will get you what you need under budget, i recommend putting in 60-80€ into decent headphones.
I invested in a 80€ sound card and some headphone i never want to hear sound another way smile.gif

Thanks guys! I was looking, it's 193 euros for the sp2500 and 72 for the xonar dx or 36 for the dg. Is the 36 price premium worth it? I was planning on buying a headset later on the road, not yet.

About that amplifier, I'm too noobie to attempt anything like those, maybe in the distant future smile.gif

I have the SP2500...I LOVE THEM. I got them for $160 or so...when they first came out. The price has gone up to $225. They were better than the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 I tested them against (see sig). When I bought the SP2500 they were the best speakers for the price..and still are at $160. Now if you are spending $193 euros im not sure what else you can get...im not up to date on currently 2.1 speakers and euro prices. But like i said the SP2500 are amazing...just be sure it's the best you can get for that price..
