Question regarding a extra 200mm fan I have...

Hi There,

I currently have a Cooler Master HAF X 942, by default it comes with a single top 200mm exhaust fan, before that I had a Antec 900 which has a single 200mm top exhaust fan, would it be better to add the fan from the Antec case into the HAF X ?.

I'm trying to keep my Video card more cool, an MSI GTX 690 which iv'e seen a peak of 81 Degrees just yesterday. Here's a pic of my PC.

700

With the door on, it has a side intake 200mm Fan. Not sure what else I can do. Keep going round in circles trying think of different ways.

more fans more airflow more cool. go for it.
81 is not hot, you've got nothing to worry about.
adding a custom fan profile for your 690 might be a good idea; having it ramp up faster at lower temperatures.
that's a massive case, are you running your fans at top speed?

Yeah i'll give it a shot then and let ya know.

I know that in tests for the 690 they were averaging peaks of 85 Degrees but I thought I should have gotten slightly better temps given the setup, however I believe the reason for the hot temps is because i'm a silent freak so all fans run at their lowest speed, and the 690 Fan doesn't run at it's fullest when gaming so I might just set profiles like you said to increase it.

But yeah I'm not running fans at top speed, completely the opposite because I keep this on 24/7. I'm kinda going for the best silent performance without going full WC. I think I got a good ratio of noise/temps so far but will try adding the fan and let you know it makes any difference.

Also this sits under a desk so it's like the air has no where to go, especially the top exhaust but I can't really change the postion of the PC.

Thanks for the reply though.

try this:
move HDD to lower portion of rack.
move opti-drive to top slot, intall a 120/140mm fan in the opti-bay and
direct it towards the GPU card. remove all unused pci slot covers.
seeing the rear roof fan is limited, move the fan forward and retest.
