Massively disapointed in sapphire 7850 performance - 6950 performs better - Page 3

Overclocked it beats a stock 7970, out of the box it's somewhat lackluster.

If the GPU is working okay, I guess I should return the card and stick with my 6950? redface.gif I really do like the efficiency and temps of this card

Your card is slightly under performing.

Try to overclock a little further. I was able to get 1150 core 1350 memory on stock voltage (1.138) on my reference HIS Radeon 7850. Not saying that is the highest, but it is fully stable.

THANK YOU!

I know my phenom isn't the best but with my 6950 it ran nearly every game fine. I just wanted to know if my card was performing like it should do. I know 4fps isnt a huge amount but do you guys have any theories why its under performing?

Complete sidegrade, you went from almost the last flagship to a low mid range 7 series.

Seriously what did you expect, the lowest upgrade from the 7 series would have been the 7870.
Even then it's only 10-15% better because it's about the same if not about 5% better than a 580.

And just to note, I ran my 6850CF setup and scored almost that exactly same score (147~) with tesselation on normal and AF on 16x. So a single card solution doing that overclocked seems like a nice performance bump to me. biggrin.gif

920/1250 overclock if that is the best your card can do then it's a bad overclocker.

I'm pushing 1200/1450 on mine. Plus I'd not call a 7850 an upgrade from a 6950 since they have similar'ish performance.

http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/xfx_hd_7870_7850_dd/

Also a good read. I fI were you I would try to:
A) overclock my cpu a tad (with a better cooler) and see what happens. Get it to about 3.5 or 3.7 Ghz;
B) overclock the card. Conforming all reviews I have read the hd7850 can be maxed out on stock voltage just by sliding the rulers all the way to the right. Should be a pretty big performance gain.

Keep this card man. You have made the step by now. Also drivers will be better eventually. You will be fine.

Hi guys, I overclocked my card a bit tonight. Core is at 900mhz and memory is at 1210mhz. Temps are good @ 54C with the fan speed remaining constantly at 20%. The scores on 3DMARK relflect this HOWEVER for some reason my physics score went down? redface.gif

Hehe.

You have the sapphire 7850, correct? I'm sure you can get 1100 core ~1350-1400 memory easily.

Edit:

WAIT SOMETHING IS WRONG!

It looks like your card is running at 2d speeds.

Your results...

410

My results...

403

Try the 12.6 beta drivers.
