Edit:
WAIT SOMETHING IS WRONG!
It looks like your card is running at 2d speeds.
Your results...
410
My results...
403
Try the 12.6 beta drivers.

I am on my 6950 now. Skyrim performs worse on my 6950, yet the transition between the high (60 fps) and lowish (40fps) seems a lot smoother than on my 7850 redface.gif On the 7850 it feels extremely jerky when the frame rates go down, where as on my 6950 its not really that noticeable. Cursor movement on my 6950 seems a lot more responsive but I had a msi 6950 previously and it felt slower than my vtx3d branded card.

here is a 3dmark 11 score:
http://3dmark.com/3dm11/3756755

Bad company 2 preforms miles ahead though, In areas where I was getting 47 fps, I was getting 66 and above on my 6950 redface.gif

I suspect a driver issue.
Of course when you are doing this you should have the 7850 installed.

I did all that stuff many times and the results are the same. Not impressed one bit with the 7850 series cards. Going to RMA not just for the mediocre performance, but for a fan issue (when the fan reaches 35%, the fan starts to make a low rattling sound) When I spend over €220 on a card, I expect it to be perfect.

Big waste of my time, energy and resources. mad.gifmad.gif

Thanks for all your help all the same

Did you get that back from RMA instead of a 6950?

nope, this 6950 was going to go into another build. 7850 was meant to replace it

Oh cool, was just curious smile.gif
Ya the 7850 needs to be clocked fairly high push past a 6950, interesting to see your notes on performance characteristics between the two as well.

Just an update guys - I sold my 6950 and got another 7850 this time. an ASUS 7850. I only installed it today but after playing briefly around in skyrim, it runs great. No slow downs like I was experiencing on my previous sapphire card. The cursor even seems more responsive! It must have been a dud then?

By the way, the card I sent for a repair was deemed "unrepairable" with no further explanation given. The reason I sent it in for RMA was because of the fan bearing which should have been an easy fix, huh? confused.gif

Yep...Something was wrong with your card. The 7850 hands down beats the 6950 if you overclock it. I'm actually amazed at the sleeper card that it is and I have the Sapphire 1 gig OC version. It's playing Crysis 3 with no problems at high settings using an OC of 1000 core / 1300 memory.

I'm limited to go to 1050 core but I've heard people running them @ 1100, 1200 core beating the 7950 cards !

What's really funny is that not only does it smoke the 6870 which was a HUGE card.... I just sold my 6870 for $118 + $15 shipping and with the 7850 I paid $170 but I got 2 games worth $44 + $59. This technically makes the 7850 a ridiculous deal right at the moment to where the 6870 will soon be completely off the market and nearly worthless. I mean anything lower than $100 that gets outperformed by a card smaller, and cooler....pretty much says it all. I can't quote the 6970 however. You may as well just keep that for another year until the 8000+ series comes out. So after doing all the math, the 7850 gained me $51 in value after selling my 6870....why pass that up?
Now I know I literally won't get the full $51 back unless I play both Bioshock AND Tomb Raider.....which I plan too, but I actually plan on selling my steam key for Tomb Raider and possibly Bioshock.

I wouldn't fair so bad though to sell both for $51 and come out even. I do think that's bit low though because on ebay people are selling the actual Reloaded cards for $50 when at first people were getting $65-69 which is still ridiculous. 2 games that each cost $44 TR, and BS is $59.

Getting back on track though....the 7850 performs insane for the money at any price below $200. I don't think it was worth $249. The reason I say that, is because it's not going to last 3 years like the 8800GT I bought for $300. I'll probably want to upgrade in 2014 just to retain some of the 7850's value. My 8800GT's value was literally not worth selling. Even the 275 isn't worth selling at this point.

I'm extremely satisfied with my Sapphire 7850. I am able to run 1100/1300 at it is stable in Crysis 3 at 1080p FXAA - with morph enabled in catalyst. High settings, no frame dips below 30 fps. It kills the 6870 by ALOT in Heaven benchmarks. I went up in max fps 30 fps and min 15.

For a card I paid $170 for vs $189 and got better performance and 2 free games that I sold....the card made me money actually.

The benchmarks I've seen...my 7850 OC'd beats all the 6950's I've seen. Maybe I'm just lucky...which is fine.

Just saying. I also heard about the 13.1 bug , I also didn't get that. Mine installed fine.
