Small update, I got the rest of the case feet completed, well they still need some paint:

I've decided to get rid of the existing PSU case, it just doesn't fit very well with airflow and everything. Also I would like to use a different power socket:

The old ones are not that nice, I will still use the filter, just solder it off the old socket:

Cut out some acrylic for the base plate of the new PSU housing (I still want it encapsulated so I don't get electrocuted when I stick my hands in the case eek.gif)

450

Drilled some holes in it for standoffs

Test fit:

I've glued the standoffs in, just using nuts for the test fitting before glue.

I'll make a small stand for the PSU, that should help with cable management. As soon as I got the PSU fitted I can make the back plate for the case and screw the motherboard in. After that I can get the cables sleeved and cut to length.

Sure is biggrin.gif .. I was going to go with the whole Intel heat sink because of the low profile, but I think the AMD one got a lower and better C/W rating.

I'm sure some would call it an abomination, but I love em both, don't really have a preference, just gets what's best value for my needs at the time of purchase smile.gif

I ran it for a while with the ghetto mounting in the old box having just a single fan in the back, it did hit 68ºC on the cores with prime95, which is a bit high for AMD, but as it will have better airflow and as a HTPC it will never experience prime95 loads, I think it will be OK smile.gif

More work done on the PSU rebuild:

I'm using this stuff now to glue it together, it actually works really well, lots easier to use than cyanoacrylate based glue.

525

It give about 10-15 seconds to get things in place and then it's strong enough to handle after about 5-10 minutes, but not full strength until 24 hours. It does melt the acrylic together, but contains adhesive as well. Just wish it came with a smaller applicator end, it's a bit messy to use the tube the way it is.

I've cut some more pieces and hope to get it fully assembled today

493

Still need to cut a few pieces more, but I'll glue these in place first.

Perhaps over-engineering this a bit biggrin.gif but I'm fine with that
