Advice on case fan config.

Thread Starter
So this is the config of my CM 430 Elite as of now. Wondering if anyone could tell me if this config needs to change or improvements. Note the GPU is a AMD 6570 (Green) and has a exhaust fan, the CPU cooler is a Xigma Tek Gaia. The unfilled blue box is the side panel intake fan. Lastly all the fans except for the front intake (140mm) are 120mm fans.

are your optical bays full?
if not, you can move the rear case to the opti-bay moving air to the CPU cooler
stack. the roof fans are nice, but if you disable them this will happen:
the air to the CPU cooler will be able to enter the cooler stack undisturbed.
especially if you load one in the opti-bay. honestly. the reaar case fan isn't
helping too much. the grill messh behind the fan is restricting the outlet.
if it were mine to use, turn the roof off and relocate a fan to the opti-bay and
retest.

i have noticed the best way to do it on my haf922 is the front bottom as intake the first top one as intake to blow on the ram and right in front of the cpu cooler and then second top one as exhaust fan and back as exhaust fan. then if you can get your self 3 other 120mm use one right in front of the cd drive bay and one more at end of drive bay to pull that air in to case these are intake fans.. the the last one right in front of the hdd rack pulling air off hdd and throw the case the the buttom ne will blow more air up in the gpu fan and it all works great if you need diagram just ask and i will draw one up in paint real quick....

the blue bottom one is intake not exhaust like i put in colour

i have the same case with 2 140mm in the front (one in the bottom front and one on top of my bdrom drive for intake) 120 on the bottom (intake) 120 on side (intake) delta 120x38 on the back (exhaust) with two 120s on top for exhaust as well, and the airflow is pretty decent for an inexpensive case... but my cpu cooler will only mount blowing air upwards, not out the back which would be even better.

Yea, I get where your going, That mesh I was thinking about taking out but I wasn't sure and I am a little lazy but ill get around to do it. There is air moving through it but not as much as I expected it to be.

Also there is one CD drive at the very bottom (You can see where i'm talking about on the CM website for the 430 E)

I might to also add that on my PCI slots they have vented brackets....Also I did some numbers with calculating the CFM and for Intake I got about 118 CFM and 128 CFM for Exhaust. Now this is the MAXIMUM CFM for the Intake and Exhaust because I on both ends I have one adjustable fan on a panel that I have in the Quarter bays, and so the adjustable fans can go from 24.6-38.8 so I only calculated the maximum amount of CFM when I turn the adjustable ones up all the way to MAXIMUM POWER!!! (I love saying that XD). Lastly would anyone recommend adding another 120mm fan to the Heatsink so I can have push/pull config?

Just bought this case but haven't received it yet. Since this is my first build I've been thinking about the airflow and had come up with the same as the op, but apparently it's better to have fans mounted in the drive bays? And how would one go about doing that? tongue.gif
