A bit hot?

Thread Starter
Hey people, long time no see. Well, ive had my jobs over here and watercooling took me a while, since ive been expecting an x1800xtd etc etc.

Anyway, i tested it the other day and the cpu temp was like 43.5 Celsius... which seemed a bit hot for me, judging that i get around 49 C with a Zalman 9500.

Ofcourse, some facts to be taken in account:
- Arctic Silver 5 both on cpu and gpu were fresh
- I don't know the temp of the card since... erm, i destroyed it (not due to wc). Luckily it's in guarantee. Anyway, x1800xtd and above are pretty hot chips, so, i think that counts.
- The setup/system is: P4 650 (3.4GHz), x1800xtd (should be replaced with x1900xtx), Bonneville with 2x120 Thermaltake fans, Apogee, MCW60 with ramsinks, MCP655 and the tubing is the shortest possible (ill upload an image when everything is done).

[edit] Tubing is 5/8 ID, 7/16 OD.

So, what do you say? Is the cpu temp ok? Ive checked it through BIOS btw and ive left the system run for about 10 mins but i guess the temp should be stabilised from the boot.

Well leave the AS5 to cure as said then re-evaluate you Load temps.

Reseating also helps a lot, you cant get the cpu block on too tight or too loose, I too was having some pretty bad temps with my processor at first but after reseating I was getting ~35C with a boneville (before I switched).

What do you mean reseting? How does it affect the temps?

He means for you to take the water block back off your cpu, clean off the AS5 on top of the cpu and water block then re-apply your AS5 and re-seat the block...Sometimes it's not seated well or the AS5 is not spread properly and that helps to lower your temps...

Wait and see if your temps drop some more first..If they dont in the next few days you might want to try that....

Did the Intel thread help you any?

yup let your as5 cure for a couple days, also cycle your processor. Full load for a little while and then idle for a little bit to let it get where it needs to go and spread out and what not.

Also can you please fill out your system specs here
