Questions about my SNB OC

Thread Starter
This is my first time OC'ing my RAM and I'm wondering if I did it right because I have limited knowledge on RAM

So my parts are
- i5-2500k CPU OC'd to 4.0ghz with 1.176v(on CPU-Z)
- Asus P8Z88-M Pro
- G. Skill Ares 2x4gb DDR3-1600 CAS 9
-This one to be exact: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231546

So what I've done so far is
- Raise the voltage to 1.65v
- Raise the frequency to 2133mhz
- My timings are now 9-11-10-27-1T

What I'm wondering is if I've done it right or not. Since I've always thought that 1.5v is the recommended voltages for SNB and I've raised it to 1.65v. I also haven't tried going below 1.65v after I raised the clock speed nor lower the CAS below 9.

I also don't know anything about the timings aside from "lower is better" and I'm not sure if the combination I've done is correct.

I also kept the BLCK to 100mhz since I've read that raising it would be bad.

I tried using SiSoft Sandra and Prime 95 to stress my CPU and RAM. So far, nothing wrong has been happening and no BSODs occurred once I got this setting.
It's a computer.

You seem to have done it right if you ask me. If you are seeing good stability at 2133mhz RAM with slightly looser timings such as those, I wouldn't worry about it at all. Also, many sticks of DDR3 are 1.65v, so I wouldn't be worried about that either. Intel has always recommended voltages on memory that was lower than most sticks needed. 1.8v on DDR2 for LGA775 boards. 1.5 on LGA1155 DDR3 boards *shrug*

Oh really? Thanks! I guess I'll start stressing my whole system now.

On a side note though, Worker 1 on Prime95 stopped after an hour. What does than mean to me? Is that caused by the RAM or the CPU? The other 3 workers are still going up to now.

Seems like you need a slight bump in volts, whether it's to an IMC or to a vcore, I'm not sure.

What Prime test are you running Blend with 90% memory utilized? or small FFTs?

Blend with high memory usage probably needs an IMC volt increase. Small FFTs will be VCore.

I'd try either a small bump to Vcore or a small bump to your IMC. One or the other though. Bump one, stress test. Still fails? lower that volt back down, and raise the other. Stress test.

Ok. Thanks. I'll try raising the Vcore first. I'll post back here if it still fails.
