Nice looking start, I got mine about 2 weeks ago also. Temporarily I'm using a modified design of the pundet case printed with a 3d printer until I figure out what its primary use will be. As far as those inquiring about the OS's available I've tried tried most. On rotation now I have openelec and raspbmc being mostly used for its obvious xbmc media centre qualities. Raspbmc was by far the easiest to get a media centre up and running. Actually its pnp after flashing it to the SD card pop it in and its set to boot you right into xbmc as well as audio, ethernet etc. I oc it to 850 and pumped up the frequency a little bit. Openelec I feel will probably bring a better offering to the table soon enough plus it has more dev attention which is a good thing right now. The fedora remix I'd stay away from its the version I believe you can buy flashed as an accessory. Unless you have a strong knowledge of Linux or seriously want to learn it from ground zero. Debian wasnt bad I left that SD for another day, but I prefer arch Linux but that's probably me being bias as I run it daily and plan on contributing to its development for the pi. More back on topic with the thread I recommend checking out the wiki for compatible devices as you can get some very cheap accessories that look and work well such as the knock off harmony remote. Currently I'm using my tablet and or phone as my xbmc remote the official app for android worked pnp with raspbmc. Op sorry I took up so much room I just wanted to get anyone that wanted up to speed on a functional media center. This week when my arduino kit comes in ill get some pics up. Being that were on ocn I hope we can get some real sick mods going and optimize this thing. Have fun

No problem on the post length Nizda ive hardly seen anything on here about Rpi's. The Adrino board is interesting ive not had much dealing with them hence leaving them out on this build but its certainly something im keen on using.
Device wise ive used the wiki as more a bible looking at the chips etc for devices.

On the mod, been dabbling with fans off USB. My collections not bad, tried a 40mm, 60, 70, 80, 90, 120, 140 AND a 230. The last three are just for the hell of it. Importantly i have two very viable fans. ironically the standard AMD cpu fan which is 70mm is quite good on 5V@500Ma. Also the 90mm Enermax TB Silence works well on the same. Downside being it has a pretty magnetic motor. So looks like im using the 70mm one then!

Also had problems with the wood im using the 6mm pine has bowed its self out of boredom, ive started slowly straightening it with a mix of steaming and pressure from my smaller 40Kg tool box. ive not been able to do much else mainly because of work and the truly obscene amount of rain coming down here. Give you an idea, average rainfall for this month is about 34mm, so far we are on around 97mm, says it all really! More updates when i can

Right, some progress.

The wooden case was annoying me being quite bulky plus others (not on this site) were moaning it was to chunky.
So, it lurked for a while in a cooks match box gaffer taped to the back of my monitor. Until I found an old CDR drive while clearing out some old bits. It gave me an idea....

BABOOM!

temporary_zps683b37bc.jpg

temporary-117.jpg

Also, gone is the 2.5" HDD, swapped for an all together more quiet thumb drive. Also binned the fan and lobbed on another heatsink. The dirty great black cable is a HDMI extension lead and the red & yellow one is a home brew audio lead which ive tested and can confirm works.
Lastly, ive managed to get WiFi working properly so its far more portable biggrin.gif

Don't know much about the Rpi's. Does the HDMI not carry audio?

I am highly interested in the pi, might get a few and do a few builds like this myself.

Nice, its been running so much better now that we can overclock it properly. I want to make a new case myself, I just can't decide, right now I have it in an accrilyic mount. Check out adafruit.com they have so many great addons and interesting products.
