First build in 4 years :)

Thread Starter
I have a budget after tax of around $5,000. I am pumped and it should be tons 'o fun. I must use Nvidia cards for many reasons and they must be 4gb. Because I am using Adobe Cloud now and Premiere Pro uses CUDA for the mercury engine. Not to mention it seems that Nividia 3d vision is more unified and controlled. If you guys/gals could build me a better system I am all for it. I think SRT will be enough for my needs. SSD's are just too expensive right now. Thank you for all your advice en stuff.

Josh from Canada land.

For $5K you can build yourself a mega monster!

I'm currently in the process of getting parts together to build a new system for my sister.
I've chosen a lot of top of the line parts, and my cost is still under $1500.00
(not including a monitor)

As for a new system for yourself, you should list what all this computer is going to be used for. Are you a big gamer? Are you an audiophile? Do you have preferences in CPU's, Intel/AMD?

Plus, in my opinion, with 5K to spend, SSD's are not out of the question, and they can be extremely helpful, when loading heavy programs.

Well I want to game with 3 monitors in Nvidia surround. Two gtx 670 4GB should do fine on a Z77 motherboard. I dont need X79. The 3 Benq monitors are my biggest cost. Next is the two 670s. I may consider a nice boot SSD. At least 240Gig. Thank you for the quick replies smile.gif.

For Intel, get the latest and greatest i7 extreme chip and any big name brand expensive motherboard with the latest intel chipset, go corsair 2100+ ddr3 memory and a whole 16gb of memory at that, get yourself at least a 2tb mechanical, get some 680s for SLI, a big 1200 watt psu and a really huge HAF X case, oh and throw in an optical drive and 3 monitors of your choice asus makes good monitors and so does AOC.
For AMD, You would either want the big bad FX 8150 chip or at least an 1100T Thuban processor, a 990fx chipset motherboard such as the ASUS Sabertooth or Crosshair formula 5 or maybe even a gigabyte 990fxa-ud7, 16gb of the aformentioned corsair 2100+ ddr3 memory, once again at least a 2tb mechanical hd, get some 680s to sli, a big 1200 watt psu and the aformentioned haf x case, dont forget the dvd drive and any 3 monitors of your choice. either way remember to also get a corsair h100 liquid cooling system for your cpu and win 7 ultimate 64 bit. an alternative case to the HAF X would be the HAF XM

I will be using Adobe Cloud. Meaning After Effects and Premiere Pro. So I really want to use Intel and Nvidia. the 3770K is the sweet spot for me as of now. I posted a rig on my profile.

Remember the BenQ XL2420TX is $499 and the BenQ XL2420T is $399. I will be getting two XL2420T and one XL2420TX which includes the glasses and transmitter. That is a rather "large" cost smile.gif. Not to mention the EVGA GTX 670 superclocked 4GB is pretty close to the 680.

I will be using the Corsair H80. No custom water cooling for me smile.gif. I also decided on the OCZ Vertex 4 256gig. It was on sale and I could not refuse.
