Replacement Corsair H100 Thumbscrews?

Thread Starter
I've been working on a new rig over the weekend and, having had a H50 in my previous build and being very happy with it, I went for a H100 this time.

Unfortunately, I can't secure the heatsink over the CPU properly as one of the thumbscrews won't tighten properly - it seems to have a busted thread.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement screw from? They're rather unique, so I can't just get any old thumbscrews. I contacted Corsair to see if they could give me some, or tell me a place that could, and am waiting on their reponse.

But in the meantime, can anyone here help? It's kind of put a damper on the whole weekend, not letting me finish this build. frown.gif

Great, thanks! I'm new around here so didn't realise there was actually a Corsair rep!

I'm looking forward to getting it sorted so I can post my first build log. And that link in your sig has given me an idea about what to do with my H50 once I get the H100 sorted...

Well Corsair have just got back to me after I contacted them on Sunday, so pretty speedy response there. They've actually given me a coupon to get a free universal H100 mounting kit from their online store, which is awesome of them! Not sure how long it will take for them to deliver it to the UK, but that's basically problem solved - and I'm very happy with Corsair as well!

I had the same sort of problem with my h50 and Corsair did the same for me, it only took a day or 2 for the kit to be delivered to me in the uk

It good you got it sorted out but any hardware store should have a surprisingly large selection of thumb screws.

That may be the case in the US but I suspect that the UK, like Australia, have different thread standards.

I could not, for love nor money, find the right thread screws for my H100 rad here in Oz.

It's true that hardware stores here in the UK kinda suck - they never seem to just sell raw materials or parts, everything is ready built or part of a kit. The only real parts they sell are things like screws and washers, and then they are ridiculously expensive. You're always better off getting things like that online.

But also, the thumbscrews with the H100 are not conventional thumbscrews like you'd find securing your case's side panel or PCI cards. Their threads are on the inside - they look like this:
440

The part on the left goes through the motherboard from the front/top so that one end of it screws into the bracket. Then the thumbscrew screws onto the other end to hold the heatsink in place.

Perhaps this type of thumbscrew is used elsewhere, but personally I haven't seen one before and so my first port of call was Corsair themselves - and I'm very happy with their response! Always liked their stuff and the first time I had a minor problem (which wasn't at all their fault and they were under no obligation to do anything about it), this is what they do. Now I feel bad for going with a Coolermaster PSU over a Corsair and for not being to afford the 650D case I wanted...
