my cousin says, when u have lot's of ram running on the win7 x64(my os) or any x64 platform, performance would be great...

idk what he actually said but majority of it comes from him, can sum1 explain this?

Define lot's of RAM. For the most part no,anything over 2GB is not going to affect speeds. There are some applications that need "lot's" of RAM though.

Well, in the recommended requirements of windows 7 32 bit vs windows 7 64bit, its recommended to have more ram for 64 bit since I believe the 64 bit OS can actually use it.

Well it depends what you need. The more RAM you have the more that can be loaded into it. Loading from RAM is a lot faster than from a hard drive or even SSDs. Having a lot of RAM will increase the multi tasking abilities of your computer because you will be able to load more at one time. In software that contains large files and uses a lot of RAM you will notice the difference but most people won't need more than 8GB. Anything over 16 GB is excessive.

Some programs use more ram when in a 64bit environment. For instance: Chrome, firefox, etc. However, I could be wrong about this assumption. I have always had 4gigs+ ram when using 64bit which is more than any 32bit machine, at least in windows, can have. Programs will naturally use more ram if its available to fill needs so my tests have been biased/skewed.

If you are using more than 3GB of Ram then you need a 64bit System, becasue a 32bit system wont use any more than 3GB.. smile.gif
