Asus GTX 680 DCII TOP slower than reference card?

Thread Starter
Before i had two Asus GTX 680 SLI. My 3DMark score was P17326.
Now i have two DCII TOP's running in SLI and i cant seem to get the scores higher than P16560.
I've used Asus GPU tweak on both setups and i cant get the DCII TOP's higher that 1294Mhz in SLI (single 1304Mhz).
Any input on how this is possible? I mean, you would believe that the non overclocked DCII TOP's at 1202Mhz, would give a higher score than the overclocked reference 680's at 1137Mhz.

It's kinda hard to really reckon what's going on because your numbers and description of clocks are a bit inconsistent here. You talk about overclocking, but then you say you're comparing scores at stock clocks at the end there.

So my first question is ... do you know what the *actual* clocks are that you were running in each case? I.E. you checked the AB graphs to see what clocks you were at, rather than relying on what the 'boost clock' reads in GPU-Z? Because GPU-Z is not accurate as it doesn't account for the Kepler Boost, which is a different clock offset amount on each individual card.

Also, there is some variability in these individual cards. Two different cards at the exact same clocks don't necessarily yield the same scores ... although 800 points difference in P score is a bit higher variability than I'd expect if clocks were even roughly equal.

Also, any chance you've switched driver versions?

The reference card has a standard clock of 1006 and a boost to 1058
The DCII TOP card has a standard clock of 1137 and a boost to 1201

I overclocked the referenace boost ut to 1137 (yes, like the standard clock of the DCII TOP)
I've overclocked the DCII TOP boost up to 1294 (any higher in SLI and it would crash)
Both voltages were 1012

This is the reference in SLI http://3dmark.com/3dm11/3740806
This is the DCII TOP in SLI http://3dmark.com/3dm11/3740799

Besides the cards, the only difference is that i used a Sabertooth Z77 mobo in stead of the Maximus V Gene with the reference cards

Put the power control to 115% put the fan speed to 70% and put the minimum voltage to its max, then try again.

Also in drivers, prefer maximum performance, set it.

I allways put the fan speeds at 75%. The powers of the reference were at 120% and the DCII's i maxed ot to 159%.
The voltage shouldnt be the point, since the kepler GPU increases the voltage by itself when the clocks are rising.

Just max the voltage and try you cant lose anything, your increasing only the minimum voltage.

And lower the power control to 115%

So if I read correctly these are in different systems or motherboards...? Test them both in the SAME system and see what the scores are. Also, if you overclock a card to far it can actually lower your scores.

The only differences are the motherboard and the cards. Besides that, the system is exactly the same.
And even if i didnt overclock the DCII TOP's they should (in my opinion) give a higher score since the boost clocks are a lot higher then the overclocked reference cards.

Psyside, What is you philosophy behind increasing the minimum voltage?
