Legitimate Windows XP OEM iso?

Hi all.

About to install my old 40GB SSD on my wife's lappy (some Siemens thing, showing its age a bit, but I think a cheap SSD will perk it up a bit).

Can't find her OEM DVD for her Windows XP install. I can probably retrieve the key pretty easily, but where might I find a legitimate Windows XP OEM iso? Not interested in piracy or anything, and I'm not installing the same software on a new machine, just replacing the drive.

Any clues?

Couldn't you try and transfer the current install directly onto the SSD?

Unfortunately there are no legit digital sources for Windows XP.

No it is not as someone else has to break they EULA to upload the ISO, if what you are saying was true then anyone could download music or movies legally from torrents as long as they didn't upload which we all know is not legal.

This also is not legal as MS prohibits sharing of MSDN ISOs.

OP lives in the UK, I believe EU laws apply to you guys as well.
In the EU consumer rights laws say anyone has the right to a backup copy of the software they own the license for.
It does not matter how the backup copy is obtained.

Even the uploading wouldn't technically be illegal if you were sure the people you are uploading to have a valid license, when it comes to public torrents however that is almost certainly not the case.

Consumer rights laws override EULAs in the EU so EULA doesn't enter into it.

The same goes for music and films as well, as long as you own it you are entitled to a backup.

You could try cloning the old drive to the SSD. I haven't done any/much research on it but know it's possible. I also believe there are conversion kits that will swap you over to a SSD.

We need more fans!
