Does this loop order make sense/work?

Thread Starter
Ok so I'm FINALLY going to be putting my loop together tonight. I've had pretty much all my stuff for it for the past 2 weeks but have been insanely busy so I haven't been able to spend time on it. Tonight is the night though. So I put a little diagram together that shows what I'm thinking for my loop order. Tell me if this makes sense or if people have other suggestions. Thanks.

as long as it goes res>pump the rest is choice with the 240 rad i'd put the fittings at the top if you can to avoid air pockets

Thats perfect but I recommend you put a 360 radiator at the Top instead of a 240. And you won't really need the 240 Bottom Rad. but if you already have it, I recommend putting it horizontally so you can use an HDD cage for your HDDs and your SSDs.

The main reason I originally thought to put it the way I outlined is because I want to put a drain line between the pump and bottom 240 rad. And yes I already have both 240 rads so a 360 isn't an option.

If you put the bottom rad horizontal you can do something like this for a drain:

423

That is how I have mine - it is cheap, effective and compact. To drain I simply put a bowl under the extender (it sticks out sideways and clears the edge of the rad), open the cap and then open my res.

True the bottom rad stays full of water, but that is no huge problem.

Actually if you put the T-piece right after the pump you can drain under power and get a lot more of the coolant out. I use a 3 way valve. When I want to drain I slide on a piece of hose.

If you put your pump in the lowest possible spot it will be easier to bleed the air out too. I'd put it on the floor of the case right after the 240mm radiator. Though you'd have to get the radiator filled up first. If the res could come after the radiator some how you'd be better off.

Very nice diagram thank you for that visual. I want to get my loop up tonight though as I've already been waiting so long so I don't want to have to wait for any extra parts. I have the following extra fittings (outside of the compression fittings for each block/rad/res) at my disposal to create a drain line.

Compression fitting
T-Fitting
2x 45 Degree Rotary
Seal Plug

Plus extra tubing

Can I make it work?

I have compression fittings on my loop all I do is disconnect a tube from the gfx card to drain the loop, once the bulk of the waters out I take the other tube off and blow into that to get the rest of the water out simples smile.gif

I'm doing nearly the same loop except my bottom rad will be horizontal.
I'm making a custom always connected drain tube.
I'll still have to tip the case to fully drain the lower rad.

I'll be using a Bitspower G1/4" Mini Valve - Matte Black
