I'm sick and tired of people saying Crysis is poorly coded/un-optimized. Yes it only makes use of 2 cores but you got to remember it was made at a time when core2 duos had just barely gotten common, any modern CPU will run it with out any issues. And Crysis looks very good for what is needs in terms of GPU power. Calling metro 2033 poorly coded is also a gross exaggeration as the game runs very smoothly even with slower cards as long as you turn down the graphics settings.
In short, graphically intensive does not equal poorly coded.
I can tell you that if you "snuck in to my room and popped out my second card without my knowledge" I would most definitely notice the difference as soon as I started to play any of my more graphically intensive games as the fps would drop form a steady +-60 to a very noticeably laggy 30 ish.

If you didn't get a big FPS boost with a second 480 in metro and Crysis they you obviously did some thing wrong. Forgot to update your drivers? Did not enable SLI in the control panel, had an under powered PSU, Did not connect the SLI bridge, Motherboard did not have SLI spport?
