Sometime between installing a second gpu and a second monitor my onboard audio decided to commit suicide. I have attempted every fix in the book and nothing is working so I believe it is some kind of hardware failure.
This means its time for a sound card. I have been looking at both USB and PCI options I only have one usable pci 1x slot available and it is pretty crammed so I was thinking about going with USB instead. The benefit is that I can use it with other devices, don't really have a need to at the moment but if I have learned anything while using computers you will find a need for everything. The question I have is will I see much of a loss in going with a usb sound card over pci and will cpu usage be high?
I was looking at this one but if there is something cheaper that would be just as good I'd prefer as cheap as possible. This one is pretty much by budget ceiling.

For reference I mostly stream music from my google music account so everything is 320kbps or lower. I listen mostly to rock (like led zeppelin and hendrix) as well as dubstep and electronic edm etc. I don't have any other fancy audio gear to get perfect sound and I usually use headphones or earbuds. I also play games obviously mostly rpg's like skyrim or mass effect.
I am so mad that I even have to do this. I was perfectly happy with my onboard audio. I don't know why it is that every time I seem to do something beneficial it screws up something else. This was supposed to be a cheap project with a
