I actually use a Razer Naga (not the Hex) at work because I LOVE using it with Visual Studio, and I find that mouse incredibly comfortable for my hand. OTOH, I disliked that mouse for gaming because the side buttons were effectively useless to me. I could never use the back two rows without discomfort, and I felt like the front two rows required too much force to press (for gaming).
I've literally only used the G600 for 20 minutes so here is my knee-jerk reaction.
The side buttons:
+ The G600 side buttons feel like they take slightly less force to push than the Naga. Unfortunately, my Naga is at work and I'm at home right now with my G600 so I can't be %100 positive on that.
+ I like the contouring on the G600 side buttons. It gives you a good front-to-back reference so you know where your thumb is.
- Unfortunately, the G600 side buttons feel slightly "mushier" than the Naga.
~ I'd say the side buttons on the G600 are a very minor improvement over the Naga, mainly because of the contouring.
Weight:
~ Feels heavy. I have a Razer Imperator 4G sitting right next to the G600 and the G600 "feels" noticeably heavier than the Imperator even though the specs on the respective websites say I'm wrong.
Ergonomics.
~ This is very subjective, but the Naga feels more comfortable to me. The G600 seems fat, and the pinky rest is just a bit too shallow for me to get a decent grip on it. It's not a deal breaker though. The G600 still seems sufficiently comfortable.
Other thoughts
The sensitivity is awesome. At full throttle, this mouse is a dream to use and I'm not just referring to gaming. I develop software on a 30" multi-monitor setup, and it's just plain awesome to be able to navigate your entire desktop with minimal input. The G600 really shines here.
The G-shift button (ring finger) is nice, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it just yet
Final thoughts:
Overall, this mouse is a wash for me. I'm likely going to swap my Naga at work with the G600. Obviously, I won't be using it for gaming. I'd love to find a mouse like this that works well (
for me) for gaming, but it appears the search continues. I'll most likely stick with my Imperator 4G for gaming.
Does that help?
