Thinking of buying a subwoofer for my AV 30s for PC usage. How would I hook them up?

I just have onboard sound. I dont know much about speakers, especially subs.

I would imagine that you would need a receiver of some kind. Do you have optical out on your onboard card?

alot of ppl recommend the dayton SUB100 or 120 over the Polk. I don't own it though

Go with the Dayton Sub1000. Much better sub than the Polk.

As for hooking it up. Just use a 3.5mm splitter from your motherboard. One half goes to your speakers the other to the subwoofer. Which would require a 3.5mm to RCA cable.

hmm, I can reassign a speaker port to "center/Subwoofer out" Would that be better than a splitter?

It would be, but the Realtek drivers don't support true 2.1.

There was a workaround for it a couple of years ago, but not sure if it still works with current drivers.

Basically consisted of setting it as 5.1 and just disabling the rest of the speakers.
