Appraisal: Used Self-Built Desktop

Thread Starter
I am seeking to sell my used, self-built desktop as one package. I have never sold a computer such as this before and am seeking an appraisal and some advice.

Thank you for your time and dedication to this community.

Specs
=================================
Case: Cooler Master Centurion 5
PSU: Corsair 650TX (some warranty remaining)
Motherboard: Gigabyte P35-DS3R rev A2
CPU: Core 2 Duo E6750
CPU Cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro w/Arctic Silver 5
GPU: BFG GTX 275 896MB (some warranty remaining - possible)
Memory: OCZ Reaper DDR2-800 2x2GB
HDD1: 640GB Western Digital Black (some warranty remaining)
HDD2: 250GB Western Digital Black
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
Monitor (optional - I have a Proview 22" lcd)

Questions
=================================
Would it bode well for me to reformat and reinstall the OS ready to be used by the end user>?

I have been having some memory issues (speculated issues based on rare memory errors). If I can confirm via memtest, would you recommend I repurchase some new memory before I sell the computer?

Where do you recommend I sell the computer to maximize profit and minimize potential hassles for the buyer and myself?

I sincerely appreciate your time,

Ryan

You can probably get $150 for it. Honestly im not really sure, and its pretty old, so not worth much anymore.

If you find the right buyer I would say $300 would be the absolute most you could get. Post it on craigslist and say how awesome it is

I appreciate your time and understand that some of the hardware is several years' old technology.

Despite that, I find it hard to believe that it would only sell for $150. Several of the components are higher end components, such as the GPU and power supply. I assumed the fact that it is pre-built and includes Windows 7 would increase the price.

Perhaps I have failed to follow the steady increase in technology lately, however, I was expecting this computer to be near the ~$400-$450 range. My target customer would be the budget-gamer, who I do not believe could have a computer built for this price that includes the assembly and OS.

Thoughts?

Thank you for taking the time to break down the components by price. The hard drives are SATA 3.0GB/S drives at 7200rpm.

I was hoping that selling it as one unit with the OS would yield a higher selling price. Do you stand by the idea that I could make more by parting it out?
yes you can make more by parting it out. those "higher end" components used to be great, but they arent what they used to be. BFG is no longer a company and the NEW TX650 v2 is $60 AR on newegg right now, and that is the new revision. So just saying your parts are not worth as much as you think. $400 is too high, try to put it up for $300 on CL as a whole rig, and i'd part out on the OCN classifieds.

Id list it at $300 and take the first offer over $200-$225 to get it sold local.

After you factor in the cost of the trips to the PO, PayPal Fees, shipping expenses, and the possibility of something being damaged in transit- selling/parting it out online loses a bit of its appeal.

so they are sata2 HDD's,
640GB Western Digital Black about $45 - $50 shipped
250GB Western Digital Black (scorpio) - $35 shipped

based on others that i agree on, maybe $350 w/ monitor up on CL.

parted can gernally net more in most cases but if you list it in the range i sugested on CL you might get that but its a place to start.. the parted prices i have seen look to be more like OCN prices in which they genrally sell for a bit less than other markets smile.gif
