EVGA 670 FTW serious concerns about the quality of this product - Page 5

Considering how many 670 FTW's have sold I have only seen a few people in Evga forums that have had bad 670 FTW's, I've been pretty lucky over the years and have only got one DOA card out of 15 I've bought. It happens....

I'm a regular over there and the vast majority are very happy with the 670 FTW and like you said, very few people have reported issues.

I, on the other hand, am the proud owner of the slowest 670 FTW out of everyone I've found on OCN and the EVGA forums. I get a solid 1137 max boost out of the box with my OC topping at 1195 (+58 core). Along with a 80% ASIC I feel blessed...

My single 670 FTW is performing better than my SLI 570s I had. I have a 3dmark11 score of around P10800, and this is with stock speeds on my 2600k. When I had my SLI 570s and my 2600k OCd to 5Ghz, I got a score of P10702. I love this new card, only thing I did was create a custom fan profile, and that was it.

I thought my FTW was bad when I first got it. My games would all crash after a few minutes. Then I decided to turn on Precision and see what was going on. Found out my card was overheating in the low seventies and cause it to crash to desktop. The stock fan setttings just wouldn't spin up enough to cool the card. Once I changed the fan profile to kick the fan up sooner, I'm now staying around 58-60C and everything works fine (so far). I have also heard that many others have had to do this same thing. I still think it is unacceptable that the user must manually adjust fan profiles to get the card to work normally at stock settings. This really needs to be addressed in new drivers.

For what its worth, I got mine on friday (its monday) and I'm requesting an RMA. Really bad artifacts and crashing out of the box into a clean install win7pro. Wiped drivers, installed most up to date ones no help. checked seating, power, etc. tested PSU, RAM - same thing. Can't make it more than a couple minutes in benchmarks or BF3/ARMA2. Seriously ruined my weekend.

Curious though, should I go through amazon or EVGA? I contacted EVGA and they told me to do everything I did all weekend and get back to them. I have amazon prime. I have some weird feeling I have less of a chance of getting another dud by going through EVGA at the expense of money and time.
