You need more than just html and css to be a web developer. JQuery, javascript, php, mysql, c++, and some scripting languages are a must. Plus you need a thorough understanding of operating systems and browsers.

Its like becoming an f1 driver and only knowing how to turn the steering wheel and pressing on the brake/gas pedals. There's WAY more to it than that. The driver has to know the entire car inside and out in order to communicate with his team of mechanics and get that proper setup.

Go to a university and in the meantime check out w3 schools and some coding books plus try to get an internship.
