GTX 560 ti Running Hot.

Thread Starter
My set up is fairly new. I built my PC in beginning or December. I am having problems with my graphics card being hot.... Idle with a few windows open, and dual monitors is nearly 57c.... no games no nothing. I got a fan for my case, a cheap rocketfish one a 120mm size for my side. But it will spin slowly and then just stop then repeat... any help would be appreciated. I would really like to get the problem fixed.

Could you post a picture of the inside of the case as well as information about your rig's build (case type, psu wattage, ect.)
You could be cramming the card in a micro case covered in PATA cables for all we know.

My bad, I thought I re-sized them?

Alright, excellently roomy case.
To address the rocketfish: if the 120mm rocketfish fan is spinning up, and then halting on its own, is not brushing up on anything, and is plugged straight up to the PSU you should have plenty of wattage is running into the fan and I would call it defective.

As far as the GPU goes, first blow out the heatsink with some compressed air, then remove it and apply some higher quality thermal paste to the GPU if the compressed air makes no difference (make sure all of the little ram chips still have their thermal pads when you reseat the heatsink).

If all of these steps fail you might consider a third party cooling solution or if you're feeling really adventurous and like a challenge you can visit Dangerden or Frozencpu and try some watercooling.
