Is it a good time to buy a Dell Ultrasharp U2312HM? or will a new model be released soon?

Yeah I'm in between right now, Is LED back lit worth 20$ more? I own a 7+ year old 1280x1024 monitor so any upgrading would make a huge difference. Right now I'm leaning towards the ASUS VS248H-P from the reviews people really love it.

ASUS monitors usually have crappy color quality. Not 100% sure if the ASUS VH242H uses the same panel as the ASUS VG236H but if it does, DO NOT BUY THIS MONITOR.

I had the ASUS VG236H before and it had the worst color quality ever. Even though TN panels are known for less color quality than IPS monitors, the ASUS VG236H was especially terrible. I had to work with a green/pinkish tint and it was an absolute pain.

Eventually got it replaced with a Samsung S23A950 which has much better color quality and top-notch responsiveness.

I have VH236H 's and I'm really happy with them. However, I don't have extensive experience with high end monitors so I don't have much to compare to. I do like them, however they do throw off more heat than I expected and I kinda wish I had got LED monitors, although I do like the color temps and overall look of traditionally backlit LCDs more.

Yeah. I've never had a really high quality monitor either. Hell I don't even own a TV but right now I'm thinking of just getting the cheaper monitor so I can grab Diablo 3 haha. If I had the cash I'd get LED all the way. But hey I got a few more days to make my decision thanks for your input.

LEDs hurt my eyes, I'd go with CCFL. Although most people seem to like them...

Beautiful! thumb.gif

(other than the shaky stand.. which it's vesa mount compatible, so you can just remount it if you want)

But everyone is saying the stand sucks.. So that'll probably bother you
