Changing my AMD Phenom II X6 1075T for a FX-8120

Thread Starter
Do you reckon it would be a good idea to swap my thurban out for the new bulldozer cpu.

With the current promotion on i can get a 8120 for around £114 delivered.

I can sell my old cpu for anything between £50 - £70 meaning that the new fx will only cost me around £50.

It depends on a few things:

How well does your 1075t clock?
and
What do you use your system for?

As others have said, if its used exclusively for gaming its not going to be worth it. However, if its used for anything else, there will be a noticeable speed increase. Especially if you clock in the ~4.5ghz range.

There have been many Thuban->Bulldozers threads. Most of them have this conclusion.

I would sell my CPU/MB and get an i5 3550k/z77
post #10 of 15
That wouldn't be an upgrade, basically it would be a side-grade. You have a mobo that will take Piledriver, so wait for that to come out and then switch.

But you should get more than 3.5 out of a 1075T. I'm getting about that much from a 1035T and I'm not even trying that hard, running at stock voltage on the CPU.
