If a GPU dies with a 1 MHz OC, should I RMA it even if it was void?

Thread Starter
Suppose that I invested in a nice cooling system that allowed the GPU to operate close to room temperature under load, and the GPU dies when I bump up the clock rate by just 1 MHz.

Technically, most stuff can't be RMA'ed if they were OCed, but should I RMA it anyways?

how are they going to tell? at least try it

Another question: Why in any god's name should a GPU die with a 1 MHz overclock?

I am thinking the exact same thing.
Something missing here... voltage maybe.

The gpu would have to already be unstable. A mhz difference would be almost insubstantial.

I doubt very highly anything will die after a 1MHz increase.

Generally, they can't tell if it's been OC'd unless the VRM's are burnt out/PCB is burnt or something, but to do that much damage you'd have to overclock to silly levels with lots of voltage.

Do more research. You are a lot more likely to kill a GPU with voltage than you are through clock increases.

You'll be fine.

The only way that you can get a GPU that BSOD or whatever @ 1mhz overclock is if you decided to be a refurbished, heavily used or ill treated vid card. Tell us the whole story on that card so we can assist you.

But to answer your original question, yes you should, because clearly, something was wrong with that card.

No unless the warranty allows overclocking and/or cooler changes
OCN does not condone nor approve of RMA fraud.
