MSI Z77A-G45 Not detecting slave drives

Hey folks.

I've been helping a buddy build his first gaming rig. I've personally never used MSI mobos before but after some research I decided it was a good fit for him.

He's got a
i5 3750k
32GB G.Skill DDR3 1866 memory
SLI EVGA GTX 670 FTW
128GB Samsung SSD primary
2TB WD Internal HHD

The issue I'm running across is, I cannot get the 2TB internal to register. I believe I can see it in BIOS in slot 3. Which it's hooked into. However, in the MSI BIOS I'm unable to track down the controls to enable it.

I tried going into windows, going to devices, and drives. But inside windows it's not "showing" the WD HHD.

Thanks for the help folks. If it was a Asus, or Asrook I'd be perfectly fine doing this. But MSI's new BIOS is..Well..Not as functional as other brands..haha.

It's a brand new system. The HHD has never been used. It shows in BIOS but not in windows.

I did some looking around, and apparently I need to enable something in BIOS, but I've hunted all the tabs and I cannot find anything that looks like a enable option. Just need it as a slave. System boots perfectly off SSD.

I'm aware it is a brand new system - I was asking if it shows in Windows in another system?

I've never heard of needing to enable an option ... where did you hear this?

I'm not driving across town to chuck it into my system, and he's only got a laptop besides his new rig. So that's a no, we've not tested it in another system.

I've the same board, and the only options you get in the SATA options is the mode: AHCI/RAID, and SATA1/2/3/4/5/6 Hot Plug option, unlike my old 990FXA GD80 it used to show individual HDD on the SATA devices right in the BIOS. Can you see if you can check the HDD in the main boot sequence with only the HDD connected and nothing else?

Alternative you can try a BIOS update, and see what happens. Good luck.

Does the drive show in disk management? If it does, you just need to format it.
