Asrock N68C-S UCC 3600 Mhz @ 1.525 volt spurious reset? - Page 3

Thread Starter
@Cannon: That's and the DirectEffect reply about Windows reinstall seems to be logic. I think it's better not to overclock this mainboard and not to try 3700 mhz unless I've a spare mainboard. I wasn't sure about the unresponsive reset button maybe the acpi stuff is too complicated nowadays? But if I wasn't clear enough my 3600 mhz oc is only stable since today. And in the process to find a stable oc I had some bsod with error 124 and had to push the reset button ocassionally. But my box is running a week 24/7 with 3500 mhz and 1.4500 vcore.

Recursion I was a bit confused and wasn't exactly sure what you were asking, hence my need for another question to confirm whether your question was about motherboard power requirements vs. power supply.  For some of us and what we say, don't worry.  I'm here to listen to you, and that will stay even if you prefer to take the risk of your mainboard exploding tongue.gif who's with me?

I don't believe any confirmation has been posted regarding VRM protection on this board but I'm willing to believe that it is there since so far I haven't seen any failures.

i have this board, and it does have vrm protection. the board will shut down cold once i push my phenom II 1055t x6 cores past 1.3Vcore/ 3.5Ghz. Other asrock boards ive had have downthrottled, but this one shuts down when the vrm's reach max safe temp. I have unlocked several cpus to quads and hexas on this board, and every time, cpuid shows a doubling in TPD; however, my testing of the unlocked quad cores (B55/59/75) does not trigger my vrm protection circuit, like my Phenom II 1055t does when overclocked on all 6 cores.

unlocked phenom b55's, or athlon 555's, only overclock stably to the 3.6-7Ghz range. Additionally, the TPD is somewhere between 120 and 160 watts on that with 4 cores unlocked. the "spurrious reset* could be either the max cpu overclock in X4 unlocked mode, or your vrm protection circuit shutting the system down to prevent meltdown.
