questioning what card for 3-way SLI/CF at 5760x1080... need help..

Okay, I know I make a lot of threads about the graphics of my rig, but it's just it seems it's becoming harder and harder to make a choice as for what card I should purchase for 5760 x 1080. Plus, in the end I don't want to regret the choice I go with. Keep in mind whatever card I get, I want to do 3-way SLI/CF for a truly awesome experience. So I had decided on 3-way SLI GTX 670 2 GB FTW (I've seen it on sale for $350 at NCIX and I'm confident it will go on sale for this price again in the near future, so I figured this would be GREAT price/performance ratio) but now with the 7970 Ghz Edition, I'm not so sure anymore. I only have one limitation: no GTX 680 4 GB. It's just simply too expensive. Here are the cards I'm currently debating:

-Non-Ref. 7970 - $~470 each, $1410 total
-GTX 670 FTW - $350 each, $1050 total
-GTX 670 4 GB - $485 each, $1455 total
-GTX 680 2 GB - $500 each, $1500 total

I know basically each card listed will provide a great experience and give me great frames. However, that is a killer deal on the GTX 670. Is the humongous price gap worth it? As for 4 GB, I don't feel it's necessary unless I am playing with insane amounts of AA/MSAA or texture mods, which I wouldn't do unless I got a 3 or 4 GB card. A lot of the reviewers out there have said that the new Ghz Ed. 7970 is the best choice for multi-screen gaming, and this is what is sort of making me question my decision. If that 670 didn't go back on sale, I'd get Gigabyte's Windforce, which is $400 each/$1200 total.

Thanks everybody in advance!

P.S. - I know I'm pushing it since I'd be on air, but I was hoping to do a slight overclock.. will this be possible with 3 cards on air?

At that resolution more vram will do you well, my personal choice in that situation would be the 3 7970s especially if you want to do a little ocing, ive heard that the smaller pcbs on the 670s cause a little more heat. Not sure on that but thats what i would base my choice on. Ive also heard a single 680 can run that resolution rather well, so if you went sli with 4gb 680s that would be your best bet and you can always add a third down the road! Good luck

I don't think you need more than dual HD 7970 CF for a 5760 x 1080. You can run any game at 60+ fps , even BF3 maxed out with Ultra 4X MSAA

http://techreport.com/articles.x/22890/7

at 5760 x 1200 without any overclocking HD 7970 CF does 59 fps. For 5760 x 1080 and a little bit of overclocking to 1100 Mhz you should be well above 60 fps. You can purchase the third later if required.

Well one thing to keep in mind is the GTX 670 FTW has a 680 PCB. I honestly wish I could go with 4GB 680s, but I just don't know if I could afford a 3rd card down the road.

I have dual 7970s that I have yet to OC and I get 60+ FPS on high playing BF3 @ 5760x1080. I would only buy 2 now, and try before I bought the 3rd. You can always get a 3rd later.

Do you have all the eye-candy cranked up, too? Like 4x MSAA, etc.

Thanks

Thanks

I have it on high presets. I would argue that at this resolution, you would be better off saving the 450-500 dollars for a 3rd card and putting the settings on high.
